“At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. |
The whole passage here speaks of being “prepared” or “ready” for the king’s return. These are the ones who are subjects of the king. Does this ‘return’ speak of a collective end time event, or does it speak of the “return” that every believer experiences at the instant of their death? Unknown to anyone except the father. See the context of “judgement” in the following passages where those who “thought” they were in the kingdom and doing kingdom things are found ‘wanting’. |
What a horrid state of things to find we are blocked from entering the Kingdom when we were convinced we were serving and pleasing God. "Doing kingdom things" - like, just doing to "earn" on entrance?? Without being the outcome of trust in and love for the Lord?? So, while I've thought it hard-hearted of the wise virgins not to try to help the foolish virgins, I guess it would have been totally wrong for them to have done so, seeing the foolish ones were not true followers of Yahweh, and too late to become so, only wanting in the benefits. It's a black and white issue - no grey areas here.
