“What is it you want?” [Jesus] asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.” |
Position and power in FUTURE kingdom misperceived. Determined not by who you are, not even in your perceived closeness to Jesus, but as judged by or prepared by the Sovereign Father. Identify not with Jesus, but with his character and his suffering. i.e. Servant and Sacrifice! |
I guess it was the mother's total lack of insight and understanding, but I've never been able to get beyond her audacity in telling Jesus to grant her two sons such honorable positions in His Kingdom. Shocking.
